Our Simple Gatlinburg Map for Roaring Bear Guests

  • Posted on

When you are staying up on the mountain, it helps to know what is actually close, what is worth planning ahead for, and what is better to do before you drive back up to the cabin.

So we made a simple Roaring Bear Gatlinburg map for our guests. It includes the places people ask us about most:

- easy hikes
- grocery stops
- downtown parking
- rainy-day ideas
- scenic drives
- nearby attractions
- practical stops before heading up the mountain

Start With Groceries Before You Head Up

The cabins are close to Gatlinburg, but once you are up on Ski View Drive, most guests do not want to run right back down for one missing item.

If you are planning to cook, stop for groceries before check-in. The map includes nearby grocery options and practical stops so you can stock up first, then settle in.

Easy Park Stops Near Gatlinburg

You do not have to commit to an all-day hike to enjoy the national park.

The map includes easy options like Sugarlands Visitor Center, Cataract Falls, Gatlinburg Trail, and other simple starting points for a slower park day.

If you are parking inside Great Smoky Mountains National Park for more than 15 minutes, remember that the park requires a parking tag.

Downtown Without Guessing Where To Park

Downtown Gatlinburg can be fun, but parking is easier when you have a plan.

We included a few practical parking spots and downtown stops so you can decide before you leave the cabin instead of circling around when traffic is heavy.

Rainy-Day Backup Ideas

Mountain weather changes fast.

If hiking or scenic drives are not the plan that day, the map includes indoor and family-friendly options like the aquarium, Ober Mountain, and a few Pigeon Forge ideas.

Scenic Drives Worth Planning For

Some drives are quick and easy from the cabins. Others, like Cades Cove or Newfound Gap, are better treated as a bigger outing.

The map gives you a simple starting point so you can pick the kind of day you actually want.

A Note About Staying Above Ober

Roaring Bear Cabins are at Panorama Point above Ober Gatlinburg. That means big views, quiet evenings, and a quick drive down to town.

It also means the last stretch of road is steep and winding. That is normal for upper Gatlinburg, and it is part of why the views are what they are.

In dry weather, most guests do fine in a standard vehicle. In winter weather, snow or ice may require all-wheel drive, four-wheel drive, chains, or a change in plans.

Use The Map As A Starting Point

This is not meant to list every possible thing to do in Gatlinburg.

It is just a simple local starting point from the cabin perspective: where to stop, what is close, what is easy, and what might be worth planning ahead.

If you are staying with us, save the map before your trip and use it when you are deciding what kind of day you want.
