Welcome to the Roaring Bear Cabins blog. We are a family-owned, self-managed cabin business, and this is where we share the kind of Gatlinburg information we would want before one of our own trips.
Gatlinburg became part of our family story
Our family visited the Smoky Mountains for years before we owned a cabin. We came on limited family budgets, brought our children, and returned often enough that Gatlinburg began to feel familiar. Now our children bring their own families to many of the same places.
In 2017, we purchased our first Gatlinburg cabin. Over time, Roaring Bear Cabins grew to two neighboring cabins at Panorama Point above Ober Gatlinburg: Haus of the Rising Sun and Haus of the Setting Sun.
Two cabins with different views
Rising Sun faces toward the morning light and valley. Setting Sun faces west toward the ridgeline and city lights below. On clear mornings and evenings, each side of the mountain offers a different view. Weather, clouds, fog, and the season will always affect what guests see.
Both cabins have private hot tubs and outdoor space. They are close enough for a larger family or two groups to book together while keeping separate kitchens and living areas.
Why we write the blog
Mountain trips come with practical questions. Guests want to understand the steep roads, changing weather, park conditions, parking, grocery stops, seasonal attractions, and what is actually close to the cabins.
We use this blog to share local planning ideas, cabin comparisons, seasonal reminders, and honest expectations. Conditions, schedules, and attraction details can change, so dated articles should be read with their publication date and current official sources in mind.
What guests can expect from us
We want guest communication to feel personal and clear. We will tell you what we know, avoid pretending that weather or travel times are guaranteed, and point you to current sources when conditions may change.
If you are deciding between the cabins, start with our cabin comparison. When you are ready, check current availability and view the complete quote before confirming.
Thank you for visiting and for supporting our family business.
